Many speculate that the name derives from Thornton Wilder’s play ‘The Bridge of San Luis Rey,’ which was highly popular during that period. However, it’s more likely to refer to the town of San Luis situated in the heart of Vuelta Abajo, renowned for producing high-quality wrapper leaves.
Whatever the truth may be, Saint Luis Rey cigars have an outstanding reputation among cigar aficionados for their intensity of flavor. They are made using leaves from Vuelta Abajo and surrounding regions. All are entirely handmade (‘totalmente a mano’) and crafted using the long filler (‘tripa larga’) method.
