Description

The word “ukiyo” (浮世) comes from Japanese and literally means “the floating world” or “the transient world.” In traditional Japanese culture, the term originally referred to the Buddhist idea of the impermanence of life and the detachment from material goods.

However, during the Edo period (1603-1868), the term took on a more worldly and optimistic meaning, associated with the enjoyment of life and ephemeral pleasures. It was used to describe a lifestyle focused on art, entertainment, and the senses, as depicted in ukiyo-e woodblock prints.

Today, “ukiyo” is often linked to the idea of living in the moment and appreciating the beauty of the transient.

Yuzu is a citrus fruit that is cultivated and particularly loved in Japan. Visually resembling a lemon, it stands out for its strong aroma, unique herbal notes, mild bitterness, and softer acidity.

Ukiyo Yuzu Gin highlights the vibrant, tangy taste of yuzu, balanced with the bright, fruity notes of orange from Mikan Peel, additional citrus, and subtle spicy touches from Shansho pepper.
