The Xikar Humistore cigar humidifiers can maintain up to 50 cigars at an optimal humidity level of 70%. They are very easy to use. Simply unwrap them, fill them with Xikar’s special PG Solution liquid, and place them in your humidor. Once the crystals shrink to half their size, you should replenish them with Xikar’s PG Solution, ensuring your humidifier never “dries out”!
They have a slow and gradual release of stable 70% humidity, and their cases are made of durable materials, ideal for withstanding 450 times their weight in PG Solution. They feature magnets to remain stable under the lid of your humidor.
Their duration, until the next refill, depends on the specific storage conditions and the quantity of cigars you are attempting to maintain.
The history of Xikar begins in 1994 in Kansas. Kurt Van Keppel, (now the president of Xikar), who wanted to purchase a good cigar cutter, found many of the cheap models and high-end models to be low-performing. So, he started with Scott Almsberger to design a more ergonomic cigar cutter. The result was the Xi cutter, which they first manufactured in their garage and is now the market leader.
XIKAR comes from the word “sikar,” which is said to be the first Spanish spelling of the Taino word for cigar. The Taino were the indigenous peoples of Spain and Cuba, where Columbus first landed when he discovered the “New World” and tobacco with it. We changed the S to an X (representing 2 blades), and we had the X cut the i, like a cutter cutting a cigar!
