The Plasencia family has its roots in Cuba, where it left during the revolution. They remained in Nicaragua until 1980, continuing to grow tobacco and make cigars. During the Sandinista revolution they moved to Honduras, having lost their plantations and factory, and remained there until the late 1990s.
