VAUEN was founded as Vereinigte Pfeifenfabriken in Nuremberg in 1901 and is the largest German manufacturer of smoking pipes.
In search of a term that would be easy for all pipe smoking enthusiasts, Ernst Eckert, son of Adolf Eckert, coined a new name for the company in 1909: VAUEN.
VAUEN was one of the first manufacturers to introduce a simple paper filter in 1921. Further research and development led Dr. Perl Junior to the 9 mm activated charcoal filter, which was first introduced in 1934 as a worldwide innovation. A great success!
After 1945, the company managed to overcome the devastating consequences of the war with an unwavering pioneering spirit. VAUEN grew to become a company with a global reputation.
It is time for a VAUEN!
